In Germany, the physiotherapist is one of the professions with a legally protected professional title. This means that a state permit is required to be allowed to use the professional title of physiotherapist in Germany and to work as such. Anyone who has obtained his professional qualification abroad can go through a recognition process upon application to the competent authority in order to obtain a professional license in Germany. The basic prerequisite for this is a graduation or a degree in physiotherapy. The following graphic shows an initial overview of the individual steps in the recognition process.
